Wallaby Organic Yogurt {Review}

Wallaby Organic was inspired by yogurts that was discovered while traveling in Australia. It captured their distinctively creamy texture, delicate body, and subtle sweetness in their signature line of blended lowfat yogurts. It starts with organic milk from local, pasture-based family farms that are made in small batches, using an unhurried cooking process, naturally.

Unlike conventional yogurts,  Wallaby Organic offers true flavors that have nothing artificial ever added. They offer a wide variety of creamy Australian-style yogurts and a decadently rich European-style sour cream. While their recipes were inspired by travels abroad, all of their products are made in California’s Napa Valley.

I tried the lowfat yogurt and sour cream. The yogurt did have a THINNER consistency that was smooth and mild. It tasted great even my son preferred it better! Here is the ingredients for the Joey™ Lowfat Yogurt for Kids in grape:

Organic Cultured Pasteurized Reduced Fat Milk, Organic Cane Sugar, Organic Concord Grape Juice Concentrate, Natural Flavor, Organic Locust Bean Gum, Pectin, Fruit and Vegetable Juice for Color, Vitamin D3.

Our Whole Foods didn't carry the Down Under™ Fruit on the Bottom Lowfat Yogurt. They looked very tasty and also didn't carry many of the flavors. Overall, I would recommend Wallaby Organic! They do cost about $0.45 more than other yogurts. My kids would love if they also sell it in those easy-to-eat tubes :)

**CLOSED** Talenti Galato {Review & Giveaway)

Congrats to Amanda and Dealsfan32!

I love ice cream and I know my kids love ice cream and probably a bunch of other people, too. It also contains a lot of fat content. This is my first time to ever taste any gelato (an Italian frozen dessert), to be more specific, Talenti Gelato. It actually tasted creamy and rich just like ice cream but 30-100% less fat.

Talenti Gelato release its newest, indulgent artisanal gelato flavor, Sea Salt Caramel. The Sea Salt Caramel gelato features rich, golden Argentine caramel (dulce de leche) made exclusively for Talenti, complemented by the finest Fleur De Sel—the prized seasalt from France—and tiny chocolate-covered sea salt caramel truffles mixed in with every spoonful.

And like all Talenti gelatos e sorbettos, Sea Salt Caramel is artisanally made using fresh hormone-free milk and pure cane sugar—no high-fructose corn syrup. It's 100% natural and gluten-free.

I actually didn't get a chance to try the Sea Salt Caramel because it was the one flavor I couldn't find locally. Instead I tried the Caramel Cookie Crunch gelato. It was benissimo. It is also the only gelato that is NOT gluten-free. It is pricey at about $4.49 for one pint at my store. This is definitely a splurge :) They have 13 gelato and 5 sorbetto flavors.

Win it:  Two winners will win a coupon for a full-size one pint of Talenti Gelato at your local store, up to $5.99 off. I should mentioned that I went to Super Target and did have to pay the sale tax at about $0.41.

Mandatory Entry: Visit Talenti Galato and let me know what other flavors not mentioned that you would like to try. This giveaway will end on October 11 at 1159PM CST. Giveaway is open in USA.  Winners will have 48 hrs to respond or another winner will be picked.

"Hey Diddle Diddle" Children's Book {Review}

Written by Pam Kapchinske
Illustrated by Sherry Rogers

Hardcover ISBN: 9781607181309, $16.95
Paperback ISBN: 9781607181408, $8.95

"Hey Diddle Diddle” is a whimsical journey along a riparian food web through the songs and antics of eight interconnected species. From a shiny green beetle “tappin’ his feet and singin’ a song” to a smug bobcat that feels like the “queen” of the jungle, readers will observe several colorful characters moving through three food chains in a familiar North American habitat.

All the Sylvan Dell Publishing books comes with a Creative Minds for extra activities related to the books. This includes Herbivore or Carnivore?; Predator or Prey?; Food Chains: True or False?; Animal Classification; and Animal Adaptations Matching. It's a fun and educational way to read a book! The ebook version also comes in Spanish.

The book did have a rhythm, which I looked up to be called a quatrain. The poem in the book was written in four, rhymed lines following a set pattern of AABB, which made it even musical to read. As always the illustration was colorful and beautiful.

Cozy up for this great rainy day read! Prairie Storms gives you a front row seat to learn about a year of ever-changing prairie weather, and how the animals living in these grasslands adapt and survive in this harsh climate. Each month, read about a new animal, and learn about everything from how a prairie grouse can survive the January snows to how an earless lizards escapes the harsh, unrelenting drought of August. Told in lyrical prose, this story is a celebration of the great American prairies. See more about Prairie Storms and free coloring pages at http://prairiestorms.com/.

All the Sylvan Dell Publishing books comes with a Creative Minds for extra activities related to the books. This book includes Grassland Habitat, Grasslands Around the World; Weather or Season?; Animal, Weather, and Seasonal Changes: True or False?; and Humans, Weather, and Seasonal Change. The book only covered the month  from January to April. I would've liked the months to continue until  December or include the other months in there somehow. The picture in the book is beautifully illustrated. I've enjoyed all the illustrations from all of the Sylvan Dell's book!

TEAS’ TEA is an award-winning line of all-natural ready-to-drink beverages offering a three-tier option of Unsweetened, Low-calorie and Classic flavors. Rich in tea antioxidants and Vitamin C, the newly launched Low-calorie Mango Oolong is only 40 calories per serving, with additional flavor offerings of Blueberry Green and Lemon Black. Classic flavors of Country Peach and Crispy Apple-70 calories per serving, are also available to meet the diversity of consumer demand.

It has also won award for developing eco-friendly products from Used Tea Leaves (UTL) from

-Ministry of Environment

Along with 2 samples of Teas' Tea, I've received a pen made with UTL and the reuseable totebag. ITO EN has been producing Recycled Tea Leaves teas for over 20 years. Of course their PET bottle products, but also cardboards, paper, bench, and their vending machines, to name a few, are made with UTL! Their own staff uniforms are made from recycled PET bottles!
I only got to have ONE SIP for this review. Sissy claimed the Teas' Tea for herself! She stated "Mmmm, this is good!" She drank it in one sitting and took the other one for her lunch the next day. The low-calorie was perfectly sweeten, just lightly, and tasty. It didn't feel sugary, which was great!

**CLOSED** Tropical Traditions Brown Rice Syrup {Review & Giveaway)

Congrats to Dina at Just Another New Blog!

Tropical Traditions Certified Organic Brown Rice Syrup is a natural sweetener produced by steeping whole brown rice with a special enzyme preparation derived from “koji.” This process transforms the steamed grain into a smooth flavored, pleasantly sweet syrup. It is made without the use of any cane or beet sugars (no cane juice crystals), corn syrups, or other refined sweeteners of any kind. Organic Brown Rice Syrup is an excellent sweetener for all baked goods, in the preparation of sauces or marinades, and for general cooking purposes.

-Gluten Free
-Certified Organic
-Ideal sweetener for hypoallergenic diets
-Easy to digest
-Great source of sustainable energy
-Non-distinct flavor
-Complements a wide variety of foods

Chocolate Fudge Brownies
YIELD: 24 bars

1 cup butter
2 cups brown sugar
8 ¼ oz. bittersweet chocolate
2+ tbsp brown rice syrup
4 eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 ½ cup coconut flour
4 tbsp unsweetened cocoa
1 tsp baking powder
¼ cup heavy cream

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and dust an 11x8 pan with coconut oil and coco powder.

The Ingredients

Place butter, sugar, chocolate, and brown rice syrup in a medium sized pot and melt on low heat, stirring until everything is well blended and smooth. Sift in the coco powder. Remove from heat and set aside to cool.

Beat the eggs and vanilla extract together with an electric mixer until frothy.

Then on low speed, mix in cooled chocolate mixture and sugar. Alternatively add in the flour, heavy cream, baking powder, beating mixture after each addition.
(Consistency is thick.)

Pour mixture into the prepared pan and bake the brownies in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or until the top of the brownies is crisp and the edges begin to pull away from the pan. (The inside of the brownies will be dense and soft to the touch.)

Cool the brownies in the pan on a wire rack until cool. Dump the brownie out of the pan and cut into bars and serve. Frost with chocolate or vanilla frosting if desired. Enjoy!!

Blog entries about this recipe: How To Use Coconut Flour

The texture is different due to the coconut flour. The brownies were sweet but dense and soft. Bubbie didn't like it at all. BabyGirl said "Yes, I said!" after asking her a couple of times. Sissy ate 2 mouthful and stated "Mmm, this is good!" until she realized it wasn't a regular brownies. There's many other recipes that have the Brown Rice Syrup; that I'm sure the kids will really enjoy. Triple Coconut Oatmeal Cookies looks delicious! I'll have to try that!!!

On a Mini Trip

I took the kids and a niece to my 3yo nephew's birthday party. It was a 5 1/2 hours drive! The kids did well and we only took 2 potty breaks. We had a couple of close call accidents on the trip but we made it!

I left with a loaded van. My sister gave me all of the baby boy stuff. I need to take a pic of Sissy in the back with all the stuff! We also made a stop to Ikea. I had to get some tall stools (one even w/ storage) for the little ones. No more fighting for them.

I hope everyone had a nice Labor Day weekend. (I took a mini break from work to do this :)
