Of course, of all days, we had to have our gas line turned off yesterday. Today was the coldest fall day by far. Temperature was only 40° F outside. The temp inside the house was only 64° F overnight which wasn't bad, considering we didn't have any heat in the house at all! Our neighbor, the firefighter, came over a couple of days ago when he was chit-chatting with hubby. Hubby was proud of the work he did with "movie room" projector screen. The firefighter stated that it smelled like a gas leak. The energy company came and confirm that there was a gas leak. I wonder how long the leak had been happening. Hopefully, the heat will be back on before tonight. My fingers and nose are cold. I'm curled up and all bundled up as I'm writing this!
Hubby looked up gas leak symptoms and noticed that allergy and stomach pain was on the list. What a coincidence! Sissy started complaining of a headache for a few days, too. Hopefully, everyone will feel better.
This is what I need right now:
*UPDATE: We got heat (after shelling out some moola for it)! The labor cost x3 than the parts itself :(

Pumpkin Patch 2010
We went to the KC Pumpkin Patch yesterday. Will have to upload pic later. I can't find the camera. I think hubby took it to work with him. I was very tired since I only had a few hours to nap before we went. (I worked Fri/Sat nightshift.) The kids had a fun time. It was a perfect day. I was comfortable but hubby was a little hot. I even wore long shirt and jeans!

Fur and Feathers Children's Book {Review}

Fur and Feathers (Sylvan Dell Publishing, Aug 2010) is a fun story of creativity, friendship, and animal coverings. When whipping winds whisk the clothes off Sophia's animal friends in a dream, she shares her human clothes with them. That doesn't work well at all, so she comes up with a creative plan, thanks to her grandma's huge sewing box. Each animals line up and explain what they need and why. Sophia also adds her extra special touches to them. The book was written by Janet Halfmann, author of more than 30 children's book! Illustrated by a freelance artist for nearly 20 years, Laurie Allen Klein.
Each Sylvan Dell title also comes in eBook form. The eBooks have Auto-flip, Auto-read, 3-D page curling, and English and Spanish text and audio capabilities. They give all schools, public libraries, and homeschool associations one-year, free access to all 55 of the eBooks through our School and Library Resource Grant program.
In addition, each Sylvan Dell title comes with: For Creative Minds education section in the back of every book, Teaching Activities, 3 Interactive Quizzes , and Related Websites per title at publisher's website.
I thought the book, Fur and Feathers, was perfect for Bubbie and Sissy. Age recommendation was right on at ages 4-9. Even though Sissy wasn't into reading the book because I was reading it to Bubbie. Bubbie was able to sit through the entire reading of the books. His book interests are more like monsters and goblins (and sometimes animals)! He didn't enjoy listening to the book as much as I thought he would. BabyGirl only got to the first couple of pages before moving on to playing quietly by herself. I would have liked the book to rhyme, maybe that would've catch their attention more. I like all the extras that the book provided for further educational activites with the kids.
